Location: Kent, Surrey & Sussex (Field Based)

Salary: Up to £53,000 per annum (DOE) + Company Vehicle, Door-to-Door Travel, Overtime & Benefits
OTE: Circa £70,000

About the Opportunity

An established and growing building services contractor is looking to recruit an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer to join its expanding service and maintenance team.

Covering a portfolio of commercial clients across Kent, Surrey and Sussex, this role is predominantly focused on the maintenance, servicing and reactive repair of commercial gas-fired heating systems. The majority of your work will involve commercial boilers and plant room equipment, with occasional maintenance and breakdown work on residential heating systems where required.

Approximately 75% of your work will be based across Kent, with the remaining 25% covering Surrey and Sussex, offering a varied workload across a wide range of commercial environments.

The Role

As a Commercial Gas Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on commercial gas appliances and heating systems.
  • Servicing commercial boilers and associated plant room equipment.
  • Diagnosing faults and carrying out reactive breakdown repairs.
  • Maintaining and repairing commercial heating systems to ensure maximum operational performance.
  • Completing minor remedial works identified during maintenance visits.
  • Undertaking occasional servicing and repairs on residential gas heating systems.
  • Completing digital job reports, service records and certification.
  • Liaising with clients and site representatives to provide technical advice and updates.
  • Ensuring all work complies with current Gas Safety Regulations and Health & Safety legislation.
  • Participating in an out-of-hours call-out rota where required.

Typical Equipment

You will be working on a variety of commercial heating systems, including:

  • Commercial gas boilers.
  • Atmospheric and condensing boilers.
  • Plant room heating systems.
  • Pressurisation units.
  • Pumps and associated mechanical equipment.
  • Expansion vessels.
  • LTHW heating systems.
  • Commercial water heaters.
  • Controls and associated heating equipment.

There will also be occasional work on domestic and residential boilers where required.

Experience Required

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience servicing, maintaining and fault-finding on commercial gas heating systems.
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
  • Experience working within commercial plant rooms.
  • Good understanding of LTHW heating systems and associated mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to work independently while managing a varied workload.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • A proactive and safety-conscious approach to all aspects of work.
  • Experience carrying out both planned maintenance and reactive breakdowns.

Qualifications

Essential

  • CCN1
  • CENWAT
  • Either CODNCO1 or COCN1
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • CPA1
  • BMP1
  • TPCP1 / TPCP1A
  • ICPN1
  • CDGA1
  • COMCAT qualifications
  • Unvented Hot Water Certification
  • OFTEC qualifications (advantageous but not essential)
