Mechanical Project Manager (HVAC / Building Services)

About the Opportunity
An established and expanding mechanical building services contractor is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of commercial HVAC installation projects across the South East.
Working on projects typically valued up to £1 million, you will take full ownership of multiple contracts from initial mobilisation through to commissioning and final handover. This is a hands-on project management role suited to someone with a proven track record of delivering live mechanical installation projects rather than purely coordinating works from an office.
The Role
As a Mechanical Project Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Managing the delivery of commercial HVAC installation projects from pre-start through to completion.
- Planning programmes of work and coordinating engineers, subcontractors, suppliers and materials.
- Leading client meetings, site progress meetings and internal project reviews.
- Monitoring project costs, managing variations and supporting procurement activities.
- Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.
- Overseeing commissioning activities and ensuring all project documentation is completed for successful handover.
- Producing project reports, forecasts and resource plans.
- Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
Typical Projects
Projects may include:
- Commercial air conditioning installations.
- Ventilation and ductwork systems.
- Mechanical plant replacement and upgrade works.
- Projects within commercial, education, healthcare and public sector environments.
Experience Required
To be considered, you should have:
- Previous experience managing commercial HVAC installation projects within the mechanical building services sector.
- A proven history of delivering projects valued between £100,000 and £1 million.
- Strong technical knowledge of air conditioning, ventilation and associated mechanical systems.
- The ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and construction programmes.
- Experience managing both directly employed engineers and specialist subcontractors.
- Good commercial awareness with experience monitoring project costs and performance.
- Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
Qualifications

- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- SMSTS.
- CSCS Card.
Location
This is a hybrid office and site-based role within Essex. The successful candidate will be expected to attend the office for planning meetings and project coordination while spending a significant amount of time visiting active project sites across the region.
