Unify is excited to be working with a leading development and manufacturing firm within the Defence sector, operating within the marine industry.
Our client is currently looking to onboard a Software Test Engineer to support across the company’s products.
Primary Responsibilities
• Develop and validate software solutions that underpin the company’s products and services.
• Create, update, and manage documentation for software builds and testing procedures.
• Act as a technical point of contact for internal teams and external partners, including customers and collaborators, on software-related topics.
• Contribute to enhancing software testability and overall quality assurance processes.
• Support project delivery by undertaking additional tasks as assigned by management.
• Carry out any other duties relevant to the role as needed.
Required Skills & Attributes
• Solid technical foundation, ideally within software or engineering disciplines.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Proficient in general PC usage and familiar with Microsoft Office applications.
• Clear understanding of the software development lifecycle, with emphasis on testing and integration phases.
• Working knowledge of scripting or programming languages to support automation of build and test processes.
• Willing to travel occasionally, including time aboard vessels in the UK and internationally.
Experience Profile
• Minimum of one year’s hands-on experience testing software on Windows-based PC platforms.
• Background in drafting test plans, specifications, and detailed reports.
• Familiarity with building software applications and creating installation packages is a plus.
• Prior experience in a technical or engineering role within a similar organization is preferred.
Educational Background
• Degree in Engineering with a focus on software, or an equivalent qualification. Candidates with lower-level qualifications may be considered if supported by relevant experience.
